Cherish

Remember the people closest to you. You know...the ones you shut out when you're hurting. The ones you lash out at when you're anxious or confused. The ones you treat meanly sometimes because you've been stressed for months.

Remember and know the ones who look past your words, your anger, your disapproval, and love you just the same. The ones who check up on you periodically. The ones you cheer you on regardless. The ones who support you in ways you don't completely know. The ones who help you pull yourself back together again.

Remember these people in your lives. You know who they are.

Cherish them, thank them, and send them love from your heart to theirs in deep appreciation for them taking the time to notice, the action to care, and the love to let you be yourself.

A Child's Smile

Walking outside the other day, I saw a child riding her bike towards me. I stepped out of her way, she smiled at me as a thank you and I smiled back.

It was then I realized how much smiling was needed!

So - thank you to the innocence of the girl who smiled at me today. Her smile opened my heart, even if it was for a short while and became a stepping stone to move me into an even better space.

Here's to smiling at the next person you see today! 😃

Love Focus

Posted in 2012 and I found it valuable to repost today with a few minor edits... hope you enjoy!

February’s love is mighty and grand
A love day celebrated throughout the land.
Reminding ones to accurately hear
All of which the heart holds dear.
Encouraged to express love that's true
Toward all sweet souls surrounding you.
Forget not those you may not love
Wishing them peace from up above.
Tailor what your heart chooses to send
So it may nurture, heal, and mend.
There's only greatness can we bring
When sailing on love’s bright, light wings.
When in doubt and when sure too
Ask thyself:
”What would Love do?”

Ease

How often do we resist the natural flow of situations, conversations, etc?  How often do we allow the flow of life to occur?

There is a fine balance of when we can fluidly influence things to move a certain way - not necessarily "making things happen" as that implies some force which seems to be the opposite of ease. But easing things into place - constantly being that sideline cheerleader guiding ourselves or someone along a healthy path with support of good habits or positive thought structures.

Ease is

allowing and basking in the flow

not always getting what we think we want

breathing deeply

accepting life fundamentals

trusting the spiritual nature of things

prayer

light

all things joyous

Wishing you much ease and joy this day, this month, this year, this life. May you walk in Ease into the world of your dreams.

The Spirit of St. Nicholas

We all know the popular stories of St. Nicholas and how he became the patron saint of children. Stories can be found about how he provided money and treats for families when they were in need. Even after his physical life, there are accounts of him stepping in from the other side to help children. St Nicholas is also the patron saint of many other professions and trades including sailors, bakers, bankers, travelers and more.

I believe St Nicholas' patronage with various trades goes beyond the specifics of each profession and relates more to the underlying heart of Christmas Spirit. The heartfulness, generosity, compassion, and perspective of St Nicholas is relatable to all, regardless of what skill or talent one has, regardless of how each chooses to earn a living, and regardless of season.

The Spirit of Christmas is a beautiful sentiment that most of us can hop on board with this time of year. The notion of giving toys, food, and other necessities increases, as we realize how fortunate we are to have what we have. Hopefully through the combined giving hearts of those with a little more, everyone can feel a glowing warmth at Christmas.

While the Spirit of Christmas is ever-present at the end of each calendar year, we can remind ourselves to carry over that generosity and perspective all the time. We can notice when others are giving from their hearts - how one simple gesture, kind word, or anonymous deed can bring about joy in a moment.

Giving is selfless and joyful when it's accompanied with sending hope, love, and generosity to others with the intention their lives might be enhanced in some way. How wonderful it can be to give to one another - the gift of time, the gift of believing in someone, giving someone the benefit of the doubt, or a listening ear.

By opening our hearts and keeping them open year-round, St. Nicholas and his Spirit of love, oversight, and caring is always available.

Happy Holidays

Given the busy-ness of this season and how crowded our days can become while we prepare for celebrations, listed below are a few heartful things for us to incorporate all year long, and especially during the holiday season.

  • Fill your mind with good thoughts
  • Expand your capacity to be compassionate and kind
  • Breathe deeply and regularly
  • Create time for yourself
  • Keep your heart open
  • Be ready at a moment's notice to give and receive an exchange of kindness

Beauty Within

I love the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast. Aside from its surface love story and endearing characters, there is a wonderful deeper meaning to it all.

Many of us struggle to keep our more unwanted features and aspects of ourselves hidden from others, and many times even from ourselves. It's normal to initially look upon these characteristics and qualities with disdain, frustration, and anger. Yet behind all those discordant emotions, there lies a depth of beauty - an opportunity to learn and to grow right there within ourselves.

In the animation movie, Bell saw beyond the physical appearance of what she initially perceived as a ghastly being. She learned that the Beast was more than what he portrayed on the outside - that he had great beauty within  as well.

As we experience life, we sometimes find our patience wearing thin when dealing with ourselves, coworkers, family members, and neighbors. It is in those times that it's helpful to try and step back and see beyond what's shown to us on the surface. Feel what is going on beneath the actions and words.

Beauty and the Beast can be likened to our own human struggle for self-acceptance, with all our perceived flaws. As we learn to love our flaws, they seem to dissipate into something more beautiful than we had originally imagined.

What perceived Beasts will you look beyond to find the true jewel and Beauty within?

Our Love and Light

I recently facilitated an angel meditation. Usually I feel blissful after basking in the angelic energy with wonderful like-minded, heart-centered people, and this most recent meditation did not disappoint. There was a mix of people yet it felt as though a sisterhood were reuniting with each other. We were all together with no judgment, open hearts, open minds, enjoying the love and energy from each other.

This is a wonderful example of how humanity can live if we release the barriers to our true loving selves. And I don’t mean to sound cliché but truly anything can be accomplished, overcome, or experienced when we realize this and allow ourselves to be who we are: unconditional love.

To all out there who bring your authentic selves, who help create safe, compassionate, healing, and loving spaces: keep shining your Light - so much so that Light will be all humanity knows.

Namaste!
